Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 2026

1. What is a Cookie?

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device when you visit the site. They help the website remember your device and preferences across visits or during a session. Hoopstr uses both first-party cookies (set by hoopstr.ai) and third-party cookies (set by services we integrate, such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, and LinkedIn). Third-party cookies are only set after you click "Accept" on the cookie consent banner.

2. Purpose of Using Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  1. To record your cookie consent preference
  2. To identify unique visitors and track website usage analytics
  3. To maintain session continuity as you browse the site
  4. To measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns (Google Ads, LinkedIn)
  5. To understand how visitors find and interact with our content (Google Analytics)

3. Types of Cookies Used

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies — Essential for core site functionality (consent preference). Set regardless of consent.
  • Analytics Cookies — Help us understand how visitors use the site (first-party visitor ID and session ID, plus Google Analytics). Only set after you accept the cookie consent banner.
  • Advertising & Marketing Cookies — Used by Google Ads and LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure ad performance and enable conversion tracking. Only set after you accept the cookie consent banner.

5. Browser Storage (Local & Session Storage)

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage and session storage to remember UI state and provide a smoother experience. Unlike cookies, this data stays in your browser and is not transmitted with every request to our servers.

Session storage (cleared when you close the tab):

  • hoopstr_pages — the pages you have visited in the current session, used to provide context when you interact with our chat assistant.

Local storage (persists across sessions until you clear it):

  • hoopstr_chat_messages / hoopstr_chat_thread_id — your chat assistant conversation, so it persists when you return.
  • hoopstr_offerings_cart_v1 — offerings you have added to your shortlist on the Offerings page.
  • hoopstr_offerings_v2 — goals and selections you have made in the offerings recommender, so you can resume where you left off.

6. What We Do Not Use

Hoopstr does not use any of the following:

  • Cross-device fingerprinting beyond standard cookie- and browser-based identifiers
  • Session replay or screen recording of individual users
  • Sale of personal data to third parties for their own marketing

7. Cookie Control

When you first visit our site, a cookie consent banner lets you accept or decline analytics, advertising and marketing cookies. If you decline, only strictly necessary cookies are set, and our third-party tags (Google Analytics, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight Tag) are not loaded.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings:

  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

You can opt out of our third-party providers directly:
